GENERAL DRIVER MOTOR · Industrial equipment recovery
Does your servosystem, spindle or industrial electronics seem beyond repair?
Before replacing severely damaged equipment with a new unit, GDM assesses whether it can be repaired, remanufactured or replaced with a reliable reconditioned alternative.
We assess servosystems, servo motors, spindles, electrospindles, spindle units, industrial robotics and industrial electronics damaged by impacts, contamination, moisture, coolant, severe wear or electrical faults.
What if the servosystem is not worn out, but obsolete?
Deterioration and obsolescence are not the same. A servo motor may retain most of its mechanical and electromagnetic components in good condition and yet become a maintenance problem because the manufacturer no longer supplies the complete unit, encoder, resolver, brake or another specific component.
In these cases, the lack of an original spare part does not by itself mean that the servo motor is beyond repair. At GDM, we assess the actual condition of the equipment to determine which components can be recovered and whether it is technically feasible to repair, remanufacture or adapt the servosystem before considering complete replacement.
This assessment is especially important for industrial machinery that remains productive but uses older-generation or discontinued servosystems.
If the issue is specifically a motor that is no longer supported or for which the manufacturer no longer supplies a replacement, see our obsolete and discontinued servo motor repair service.
When equipment reaches this condition, there are still technical decisions to make
Severely damaged equipment does not always need to be discarded. The key is determining whether repair is feasible and cost-effective, whether there is a risk of recurrence, or whether a replacement or remanufactured unit would be more appropriate.
What types of damage we assess
- Servo motors with internal contamination, moisture, oil or coolant.
- Spindles, electrospindles or spindle units with severe wear, seizure or mechanical damage.
- Drivers, servo drives, variable-frequency drives or boards with electrical, thermal or overvoltage damage.
- Encoders, connectors, brakes, bearings, windings or wiring in poor condition.
- Older or discontinued equipment, or units for which new spare parts are difficult to source.
- Cases where a previous repair attempt did not resolve the root cause of the fault.
The question is not only whether it can be repaired
The right question is whether the repair is technically feasible, whether the equipment can be properly tested, whether the solution reduces the risk of another machine stoppage, and whether it is more cost-effective than replacing the unit with a new one.
At GDM, we do not recommend repair by default. We first assess the actual condition of the equipment and then recommend the most suitable option: repair, remanufacturing, replacement or a compatible alternative.
1. We assess
the damage
We review photos, symptoms, brand, model, full reference and the circumstances of the fault.
2. We define
the technical option
Repair, remanufacturing, replacement, a compatible unit or a complete system inspection.
3. You decide
how to proceed
We provide a clear assessment before any intervention. If repair is not worthwhile, we look for an alternative.
Why GDM can help in extreme cases
Since 2014, GDM has logged more than 50,000 industrial repairs. This experience allows us to identify failure patterns, assess recurrence risks and determine when a repair makes technical and economic sense.
With severely damaged equipment, replacing parts is not enough. The cause of the damage must be identified, the complete unit checked and the solution validated to reduce the risk of another machine stoppage.
You do not always need to buy new equipment
If a new replacement has a long lead time, is costly or has been discontinued, repair or a remanufactured unit may be the fastest and most cost-effective option.
Objective: restore availability, reduce downtime costs and avoid rushed decisions.
Damaged equipment that may still be recoverable
What we need to assess your equipment
- Brand, model and full reference.
- Photos of the equipment, connectors, nameplate and visible damage.
- Description of the fault or machine stoppage.
- Indication of whether the fault affects the servo motor, driver, encoder, spindle, robotics or electronics.
- Urgency, spare-part availability and production context.
The more information you send us, the faster we can advise you on the feasibility of repair or replacement.

We will review the information and tell you the next step.
Before discarding your equipment, ask us
Equipment that looks badly damaged is not necessarily beyond repair. At GDM, we assess severe damage in servosystems, servo motors, spindles, electrospindles, industrial robotics and industrial electronics.
If repair is not feasible or cost-effective, we propose an alternative: a replacement unit, a remanufactured unit or a compatible solution.

Tell us what equipment you have, what is happening and attach any available information. The more specific the case, the better we can advise you.
Do you have severely damaged equipment? Do not decide based on appearance alone.
Send us the information and we will assess whether the equipment can be repaired, remanufactured or replaced with a more cost-effective option than buying new.
